The Board of Canine Behaviorists establishes clear ethical standards to ensure professionalism, accountability, and humane practice across the field.

All members are expected to uphold these principles in their work, interactions, and decision-making.

Professional Conduct

Members must maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability in all interactions. Practices must be transparent, lawful, and aligned with established standards of care.

Animal Welfare

The physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of dogs must always be the primary consideration. Members must avoid any methods that cause unnecessary stress, fear, or harm.

Evidence-Based Practice

All behavior modification and training methods must be grounded in current scientific research and proven methodologies. Outdated, unsupported, or harmful practices must not be used.

Client Responsibility

Members must communicate clearly and honestly with clients, providing realistic expectations and appropriate guidance. Client confidentiality must be respected at all times.

Professional Responsibility

Members are expected to continue their professional education, collaborate respectfully with other professionals, and report unethical or harmful practices within the field.

Enforcement

Failure to adhere to the Code of Ethics may result in review, suspension, or removal of certification by the Board of Canine Behaviorists.
